The beat battles the drone, the noise usurps the harmony

Pierre Boulez was the first to develop a set of simple oppositions and complex differences, as well as reciprocal nonsymmetrical correlations, between smooth and striated space. He created these concepts and words in the field of music.... In the simplest terms, Boulez says that in a smooth space-time one occupies without counting, whereas in a striated space-time one counts in order to occupy.

Boulez is concerned with the communication between the two kinds of space, their alternations and superpositions: how "a strongly directed smooth space tends to meld with a striated space,"...how "texture" can be crafted in such a way as to lose fixed and homogeneous values, becoming a support for slips in tempo....

Find ourselves in the neon city: Limited Edition CD

You get the seven tracks of the EP in a vinyl-style 32 lb. cotton paper sleeve and everything in the pictures. Liner notes include a unique hand-written lyric sheet, poem, or message. Each CD features a unique hand-drawn design. Limited to 50 copies.  Purchase here.

A little background: This was originally supposed to be a single for “Neon City Nova” that we would release in anticipation of the reissue of For a home in memory searching, but the thing grew into an EP. At 30 minutes, it’s as long as some LPs, but we’re calling it an EP because there are really only five new songs here, even though the two versions of “Neon City Nova” are different from the version found on For a home in memory searching.

We also have couple copies (literally, a couple) of our first LP CD  left.  Send us an email if you're interested.

Finally, our previous album, For a home in memory searching, is still available for free download at archive.org. As mentioned above, we will be reissuing a deluxe two-disc edition in the near future: one disc of the original nine tracks, and another disc of unreleased tracks, alternate versions, and collaborations.
